Additional Information

Description

The owner of the Brookfield Sugarmakers property is offering farmland seekers an opportunity to utilize hay and pasture land on this 115 acre conserved property.  A residence on the land is available for housing. There is the possibility of long-term farm tenure and equity building though a lease at this time. Approximately 25 acres of hay and pasture land is available to lease to an individual who would utilize it to establish a farm operation.  A lease would include access to a one to two bedroom residence.  The owner may also be open to a workshare program that contributes to the monthly rental fee.  A final rental fee will be negotiated between the owner and farmer based on the proposed uses of the land and any in fee labor the lessee was willing to provide on the property with the existing farm operation.  The owner is open to non-permanent improvements on the land such as hoop houses, temporary animal housing or fencing.  The owner is willing to negotiate a multi-year lease based on the needs of the farm seeker.

The owner utilizes a well maintained sugarbush on the land for his own purposes.  Some firewood may be harvested for use in the residence by the lessee.  The farm includes two farmsteads that are separated and private from each other.  The land is gently rolling and can be certified organic.  The property is enrolled in Current Use and covered by a forest management plan. One hoop house could also be included in the lease.
