  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont

Location details

Central Massachusetts

Minimum acreage desired

3

Arrangements desired

  • Purchase or own
  • Lease
  • Lease-to-own
  • Collective/group tenure

Arrangement description

Ideally a property with existing fencing and shelter (minimal). Open to livestock guardian (donkey). Established water source. My sheep are hardy and great at foraging, so rocky mixed pastures are perfect. Ultimately I'm just looking for a safe space for my animals that is within driving distance from my apartment. :)

Planned farming practices

  • Sustainable/regenerative

Farming practices description

I don't follow organic, but I use small local businesses for feed, and never give antibiotics/dewormer unless absolutely necessary. My animal husbandry is animal behavior centered, with a goal to preserve heritage breeds that co-exist and regenerate their environment.

Planned farming enterprises

  • Livestock
  • Vegetables

Farming enterprises description

Starting with my sheep, they are dual purpose (wool and meat). Id also love to start a vegetable field, to feed my animals a more varied diet, plus feed my community.

Infrastructure needed

  • Livestock shelter/housing
  • Fencing

Description of infrastructure needed

Fencing is ideally permanent - not electric. Horned sheep don't mix well with electric netting

Business planning description

Staying small for now, someday I plan to do a mixed livestock operation (all heritage breeds). With produce production, and light hay production.

Additional Information

To be upfront, I don't plan to farm full time. I've been involved in farming since I was a child, and I enjoy having my "day job". Thankfully, my animals are not even close to being needy.

I'm looking for a safe place for them to reside; and I'm flexible in what that may look like. I'm happy to help out around an existing farm (check out my farm website to see my skills in action), barder goods, or just do a standard $ lease.
