Additional Information

Description

Singing River Farm consists of 17 lovely acres of open fields and forest lying along the Williams River in rural Rockingham, VT.  Situated 4 miles from Interstate 91, it is slightly more than a half hour drive to Brattleboro, White River Junction, and Hanover, NH.
The land is half open land with good solar exposure and well-drained soil, primarily Quonset-Warwick.  Mixed deciduous and conifer woods slope down toward the northeast and northwest boundaries.  There are about 1000 feet of frontage on the Williams River, much of it within the spectacular Brockways Mills Gorge.  A private swimming hole in the gorge offers shade and relaxation on hot summer days.  Sokoki Falls is but a two-minute walk away, and can be heard from the farmhouse.
The current owners have operated the farm as a homestead along with several commercial enterprises including retail sales of field-grown pansies, specialty cut flowers, flint corn, big pumpkins, and Christmas trees.  Because the farm is located only two-tenths of a mile from state highway 103 and straddles a town road that is a commuter route, there is plenty of exposure to both local and tourist traffic.  Events such as Singing River Farm's annual Pansy Festival have drawn crowds to the farm, and the owners' public involvement in social justice initiatives have given the farm wide recognition and a good reputation.
Although the current owners have not applied for organic certification, they have used organic methods and have kept careful records.  They would be able to help new owners obtain organic certification.  There is currently about a half acre under cultivation, including 6,400 square feet of no-till raised beds.  An edible forest garden was started in 2014 and there are many fruit trees, berries, and other perennials.
