Additional Information

The Dickey family purchased the farm in 1900; it was a working farm with a small herd of milking cows and gardens that supported a family of nine through the 1940's. After that it was a small dairy farm until about the late 1950's. Since the 1960's the farm has been inactive, however, the fields have been cared for and mowed each season and a small amount of wood has been harvested during this time. Three of the seven children lived out their years at the farm with the last child, and the youngest, passing on in November of 2019 at the age of 97.

We would so wish that a young family could repeat a similar life on this special place in rural Maine.

Farmhouse: An attractive mid- 1850's house with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining room and family room. forced hot air oil furnace, Monitor heater and a Vermont Castings woodstove. Attached two car garage with attic above. The home is in good condition, has had replacement windows. Tin ceilings in downstairs rooms, hardwood floors. Attractive lawns and sugar maple shade trees.

Second living quarters: A three season 1 bedroom cabin off grid, very comfortable and in a lovely quiet location. Gas stove, gas light, and privy.

Maine Farmland Trust (MFT) has expressed interest in purchasing a conservation easement on this property. Pending agreement on the terms of the easement and approval by the MFT Board. The easement would restrict certain uses on the property but would allow the property to continue to be used as a farm.

Priced at $219,000
