Hearts' Ease Farm is in Danville village. I am looking for folks who are interested in community, permaculture, small scale market gardens and livestock. I am interested in all aspects of sustainable land management, though I do not forsee being the primary farmer as I have a separate profession as a nurse. My dream is to eventually offer therapeutic/educational services of some kind to the community combined with CSA/market gardens. The location is ideal for someone who wants to have a market garden and sell at the Farmers Market on the Green, also easy access to the year round market in St Jay. There are several acres of open, level land, some of which was used for vegetables and the rest as pasture, last grazed 3 years ago by goats and horses. Perimeter fencing of board/wire needs some repair/completion, but extends around much of the property with gates. The majority of the land is wooded, with some marshy open areas as mentioned, which might be seasonally appropriate for pasture. There is a pond, in need of maintenance, about 1/3 of an acre in size and a brook running through part of the property. The forested area is mixed hard and soft woods, probably in need of management/thinning as this hasn't been done in many years. A previous owner reportedly created X-C skiing trails in the woods some years ago. The property is currently managed by a caretaker and will be available in May of 2021. I'm posting now so that interested folks can contact me over the winter. There is a 5 bedroom farmhouse in good shape and large 3 story barn in need of restoration, but currently usable with minor repairs to be completed this fall.
