Additional Information
Currently we run a successful farm business including: Starting in February we grow annuals, perennials and vegetables in our 35,000 sf of green house space plus outdoor growing space. We have a large well established retail and wholesale clientele. In the spring we start outdoors by planting our 118 acres, plus planting an additional 100 acres of rented land for growing a wide variety of vegetables. We also have 7 acres of high bush blueberries with a well-established U-Pick operation. We also provide vegetables for the entire season to 8 local Hannaford stores, as well as other local farmers, restaurant owners and farm stands.
The 118 acres is APR, which means it is specified as farm land only; no building allowed unless specifically to house farm workers. Our family has farmed this land for 4 generations. My grandfather, Fred Howe, started the business in the 1950's growing flowers. My father, Charles, started growing vegetables and purchasing land. We have provided food and employment to many local families and love to see their childrens' children now working hard in the summer for us. New Braintree is a small town in the center of Massachusetts. We recently hit a population total of 1000. We were known as the town with more cows than people. We remain a small, farm community. We are part of a regional school system with a great rating. This is a wonderful place to raise your children and thrive in the fields, hard work and sunshine.
I am looking forward to retirement. I have a wealth of knowledge as I have grown up and farmed since I could walk. I have grown the business to its current state and am willing to work with you for the first year after purchase to educate, assist in any way needed and help you develop your own version of a successful business on this farm land.
