Additional Information

Manatuck Stables is a 200 year old farm in southeastern Connecticut. Historically the farm had orchards, a piggery, a large egg business, and in the late 1970s became a place for race horses put out ot pasture.  Over the past 15 years the new owners have revitalized the farm,   restored hay fields and operated a boarding stable until 2008. The previous farm manager raised beef shorthorns and pastured over 30 animals on site.  He moved on in 2018 and we are now seeking a new manager with a new business plan.

The owners have used "best practices" on the property and although not certfied have followed organic farming guidlines.

Stonington is in southeastern Connecticut on the ocean and the border of Rhode Island. This historic community has become a tourist destination with a revitalized mix of restaurants and is seeing a resurgence in local agricultural actvity.  The owners have played a role in developing and maintaining open space, coming up with new uses for historical farms and promoting sustainable farming practices in the community.
