Additional Information

Description

Pillwillop Therapeutic Farm (http://www.pillwillop.org) in Wolcott, CT is looking for a farmer with a social justice and community orientation to farm the property.  Pillwillop Farm is a therapeutic clinic that provides out-patient mental health services to people of all backgrounds.  The clinic's mission is to serve people not privilege.  The ideal candidate will have experience and skill in farming and in farm management, they will also possess vision, motivation and the business acumen to create a successful farm.  We are looking for a farmer that will create their own business and share the costs associated with the land that they use on the Pillwillop property, but also be connected to our community and therapeutic work.  There is a lot of flexibility around vision for the farm and we are looking for someone with the farming and entupeural skills to build a thriving business that also has a clear mission to give back to the community and the land.  There is a lot of infrastructure and equipment in place at the farm including possible shared use of two high tunnels, cleared fields, water for drip irrigation in the fields and access to tractors.  Ideally the right candidate would embrace the inclusion of vocational and therapeutic interventions on the farm and become part of our community at Pillwillop.  If you are interested, please send your resume to [email protected].  Applicants that pass the first interview process will be encouraged to submit a business plan.  We hope to begin interviews this December and make an agreement with a farmer to begin planning and preparing for the project this winter or spring.
