2 Jobs/ Land Access Opportunity
Farm Manager | Residency Manager
Sun Hill Farm is a small diversified farm, a home and artist residency located in the south eastern hills of Vermont. We are seeking to fill two managing positions by March 1st, 2019.
Farm Manager and Property Caretaker
Residency Manager

The two managers will work together as a team to manage the farm, the home and the residency programs. These positions would be suitable for a couple or young family.
The Farm Manager and property caretaker -20hrs/week residential position- will be responsible for farm operations, outbuildings, grounds, and land management.
The 50 acre farmstead, under conservation easements with the Vermont Land Trust, includes 35 acres in managed woodland, 6 acres in pasture, vegetable production gardens and a 1000 sq.ft high tunnel. The current farm manager has operated an organic vegetable CSA for 10 families, raised lambs and meat birds for 20 member families. We welcome proposals for diversified farm ideas and growth within the scope of the Sun Hill Farm mission and vision.
We are looking for an individual who loves sharing his/her passion for farming and land-based education with others, be they visiting guests, farm interns, community members and neighbors. The farm is located in a small residential neighborhood and we are very sensitive to keep our good rapport with our neighbors. Over the last three years, the farm has hosted seasonal interns. The caretaking and grounds maintenance on average consumes 20 hours per work week.  Housing will be negotiated as part of the salary.
The Residency Manager -part-time position (15 hours/week)- will be responsible for the management of the owner’s home, visiting guests and residents of the homestead  and program facilities.
The position oversees the day-to-day functioning of the home, scheduling and hosting of guest stays and residencies, the internal functioning of the main residency/guest/owner’s farmhouse, a small guest cottage, a studio barn that serves as key function venue and a Yurt used for meditation and small facilitated groups. The manager will facilitate all the logistics of regularly hosted small groups,  and residencies. Our intention is to give visitors and residents, often coming from urban areas, the opportunity to experience a land-based lifestyle inherent on a farm, balancing work and rest while supporting their own creative pursuits.

To apply for either of these positions, please submit a cover letter explaining your relative experience and interests, a resume and three professional and personal references by December 28th. Salaries negotiable commensurate with related experience.  Please send to Simon Renault, Sun Hill Farm Manager: [email protected]
