Description

The Brooke Group & Chozick Realty, Inc. are proud to present Sunny Border Nurseries,
an active nursery/farm with an active hemp grower license. Sunny Border Nurseries has
been a leading wholesale grower for over 90 years, offering an extensive selection of
perennial plants. Sunny Border grows and supplies finished, container-grown plant
material to green industry professionals including Garden Centers, Nurseries, Landscape
Firms, Municipalities and others.
Owned and operated by the same family since 1946, Sunny Border Nurseries was among
the first nursery to sell finished, container-grown perennial plants. Since then, the nursery
has been a wholesale supplier with sales made exclusively to supply independent retailers
and landscape entities as well as contract growing opportunities. The perennial growth
program featured at Sunny Border consists of over 3,000 different species and hybrids, all
of which are available throughout the year. Along with perennials, Sunny Border also
sells Temperennials™, ferns, rock garden & alpine, ornamental grasses, green roof and

grow approximately 4,500 plants per acre on an annual basis.
Sunny Border Nurseries, Inc. also holds an active hemp grower’s license issued by the
Department of Agriculture. In 2018, the federal government recognized hemp as an
agricultural crop via the Farm Bill. By the end of 2019, 82 hemp growers have been
licensed in the State of Connecticut, Sunny Border being one of them. Active hemp
grower licensees are legally allowed to grow and sell “as is” hemp plants. The CT Farm
Bureau Association estimates 1 acre of help could generate between 500-1,500 pounds of
dried flowers and can generate up to $150,000 per acre in revenue. The Agricultural
Marketing Resource Center reported $820 million in total retail value for hemp products
in 2017.
The sale of Sunny Border Nurseries represents an opportunity to own and operate a long
standing, reputable wholesale nursery with an active hemp grow license. The Hemp
Grow License brings the purchaser into this highly sought after industry and inclusion into
the State’s Agricultural Pilot Program for Hemp Research.
